Substance Abuse Assessments
Substance abuse assessments are clinical interviews designed to
determine:
1) If an individual has a substance abuse problem;
2) the degree of the problem, and; 3) the appropriate education
or treatment program. Assessments can be scheduled for weekday
mornings, afternoons, and evenings, or weekends.
Substance abuse assessments for individuals
charged with DWI ($108 State-mandated fee).
Narcotic Treatment Program (Methadone)
In understanding the cycle of addiction, we have learned that
prolonged heroin use leads to addiction. Abrupt termination of
opiate use results in severe withdrawal symptoms. Methadone, approved
by the FDA for treatment of narcotic addiction, prevents opiate
withdrawal, blocks the effect of other opiates (the addict does
not get high should he/she use heroin while on methadone) and
most importantly, relieves the craving described by addicts as
a major factor in relapse.
Our Narcotic Treatment Program provides comprehensive substance
abuse treatment for individuals with a chronic addiction to an
opiate. This includes people addicted to heroin as well as synthetic
drugs such as Dilaudid, Darvocet, and Oxycontin. The program combines
medical services, FDA-approved medication for treatment of narcotic
addiction, counseling services, TB testing, HIV/AIDS education
and testing, and regular testing for alcohol and other drugs.
Participation in counseling is mandatory in this long-term treatment
program.
