Have You Been Charged With a D.W.I. and Don't Know What to Do?

Anyone convicted of a D.W.I. is required BY LAW to obtain a substance abuse assessment. Substance abuse assessments are clinical interviews designed to determine: 1) If an individual has a substance abuse problem; 2) the degree of the problem; and 3) the appropriate education or treatment program. If you obtain this assessment BEFORE your court date you may be eligible for a limited driving privilege on the day you go to court. If you are eventually convicted, it would be an advantage for you to be able to show the court that:

1) You have already obtained a DWI Assessment from ADS
2) You are willing to complete the program they have prescribed.

Therefore, You should come to ADS and get an assessment as soon as possible. AT ADS, assessments can be scheduled for weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings, or weekends. Just call (336) 333-6860 in Greensboro, (336) 884-6860 in High Point, (336) 694-4333 in Yanceyville; (828) 449-1020 in Hickory, or (336) 532-0500 in Burlington.

What Happens Next?

You attend your scheduled appointment and obtain an assessment. Your assessment will determine the service you will need. Most individuals need education or low-level treatment. On your appointment day you must bring

  1. $108 to pay for your DWI assessment.

  2. A recent copy of your Criminal/Traffic Record from your county of residence or a copy of your DMV Driving Record.

  3. A copy of your Breathalyzer Report (B.A.C.)
